When Criticism Happens

When you enter into the service-based industry, there are two things you’re petrified of:
.
1. Crickets
2. Criticism
.
So, when you put yourself out there and someone says that you don’t know anything, you have nothing of value to add, and you aren’t helping anyone… it’s never easy to hear.
.
And that’s what I was told yesterday. Along with some other nasty things.
.
So, how can I let this be of service to you? How can I help you show up for yourself and the people you are meant to support in the face of that? How can I help you use this as an OPPORTUNITY to recommit to your work, your message, your art?
.
Simple:
.
By continuing to be of service to you.
.
By showing up for you today.
.
By using whatever was said to me yesterday as an OPPORTUNITY to recommit to that which I feel pulled to say, do, and write.
.
BY CONTINUING TO SHOW UP.
.
Not just when people are telling me nice things.
.
But everyday. Unapologetically. Because that’s what I want for you.
.
Here’s the truth. When you decide to show up and declare that you have shit to say, and you become unapologetic about it…
.
You will trigger some peeps. It’s actually a good sign.
.
It means you’re saying something. And not some vanilla-cater-to-everyone-and-not-offend-anyone bullshit.
.
You’ve been walking on eggshells most of your life anyway, and you’re done.
.
You know better than anyone how to take care of everyone in your life. And you’re realizing just because you’re really good at it, doesn’t mean you have to.
.
So, when you say something that triggers someone. That’s on them.
.
They have a choice to be either triggered or to look at what you showing up and saying what you said meant anything bad about them.
.
You also have a choice. You have a choice to let it give you an out. To let it take you out of your power and the work you are here to do for a day - a week - a month - or forever.
.
And that’s just to fucking easy to quit. Because you are here for a reason. You have a purpose - you have a mission - and your work is needed.
.
And anything nasty someone has to say about that is none of your got’damn business.
.
Love you today, and everyday… keep going, you gorgeous human, you.
